Why you should start collecting payments online

Who doesn't want to get paid at the click of a button?

Still on the fence about whether or not to collect payments online? That’s ok, we’re here to help shed some light on the benefits, and there are a few. But first, let’s tackle the basics.

What are online payments?

In simple terms, online payments are any method of payment your customer can make online. They use a payment gateway to facilitate and authorise types of payments using their credit and debit cards straight from their phones or computers. With the world becoming more and more digital, online payments seem to be the way of the future in terms of convenience for your customers. Paying in cash or logging into your bank to make a manual transfer is becoming a thing of the past. Plus they are a faster way for you to get paid. Bonus!

What are the benefits?

1. Convenience + improved customer experience

Offering a “click and pay” payment option is a win for both you and your customers. It offers customers an easy, quick and convenient way to pay you, while you can feel at peace knowing that payment will be landing in your bank account shortly. If your goal is to improve customer service, this is one way to have a herd of happy customers.

2. Faster and more secure

Collecting payments online can speed up the payment process. Not only because it's quicker for your customer to pay you, but it also has quicker payment processing times. Online payments are also processed through secure channels, which helps protect you and your customers. One can not always trust a PDF POP these days.

3. Keeping track of your income becomes so much easier

Manually tracking your income and invoice payments can be quite a bit of admin. Online payments makes this process so much easier as this can be done automatically for you. This means that once your customer has paid your invoice online, the invoice will be automatically marked as paid and the payment transaction links straight away - without you having to lift a finger. Well, that's how it works in stub anyway. 😀

Types of online payments

In stub, there are two ways for your customers to make online payments straight from their invoices and they are…

  • Credit & Debit card - your customers enter their credit or debit card information on stub’s secure online payment portal and Bob's your uncle. This is the most common online payment type that individuals use.
  • SnapScan - if customers have set up SnapScan on their phones, customers can pay super quickly with a simple scan of a SnapScan QR code.
