Meet Kabelo Moraloki, visual artist, photographer, graphic designer, and founder of Kabelo Moraloki Art - who’s turning his creativity into a business, and his business into a movement.
Whether it’s on a canvas, a cushion, or a coffee mug, Kabelo’s mission stays the same: to spread joy, healing, and hope through art. And he’s doing it in a way that brings his work closer to the people who need it most.
From Mamelodi to Mainstream
Born in Mamelodi into a family of artists, Kabelo found his first creative spark watching his uncle draw.
“I tried to imitate his work as a kid,” he says. “But then the art kept calling me back.”
Even when life pulled him in other directions, creativity never let go.In high school, he began experimenting with his own style.
After matric, an art residency in Sandton became a game-changer, taking him from his township home to the city, and later to Cape Town, where he joined the City of Cape Town’s Emerging Artist Programme.
His work has since featured in exhibitions across the country.
But Kabelo always knew: exhibitions weren’t the only way to build a career, or make an impact.
In 2020, Kabelo started printing his artwork on t-shirts. Not as merch — but as movement.
“You carry art wherever you go. You actually wear it."
That simple shift changed everything. It unlocked a whole new way to experience art, as something you live with, not just look at.
Since then, Kabelo has expanded his product range to include tote bags, mugs, cushions, and other homeware essentials. It’s not just beautiful. It’s accessible. It’s emotional. It’s wearable joy with a purpose.
Painting a Brighter Future
At its core, Kabelo’s journey is about more than business. It’s about purpose.
“I grew up in spaces where there was lots of violence,” he says.“I decided that’s not how I want to see society."I want to play a role in making people happy. If someone looks at a piece and smiles - I’ve done my job.”
That deep sense of social responsibility runs through everything he makes. Kabelo sees art as a tool to uplift, to bring people together, and to reimagine what’s possible when passion meets purpose.

Art Meets Business
Through the Woolworths Youth Makers Mentorship Programme, Kabelo’s turning creativity into commerce - building a brand that blends meaning and success.
Each piece reflects his philosophy: not just to decorate your home, but to shift your energy. This is what we call creative commerce, making a living from your purpose without diluting your voice.
Kabelo’s art doesn’t compromise. It uplifts, connects, and reminds us that harmony is a practice.
“The time with the Woolies experts has been so insightful,” Kabelo shares.
“It’s helped me feel like I have support as I grow this dream.”

Big Dreams. Bigger Impact.
Looking ahead, Kabelo envisions Kabelo Moraloki Art with outlets across South Africa - and flagship galleries in places like Dubai and New York.
But no matter how big the dream gets, Kabelo’s mission stays rooted in community. He’s not just selling art. He’s reshaping culture. Reclaiming joy. And showing South African creatives that there’s room for both soul and sustainability in their craft.
If more people smile along the way? Mission accomplished.
