How to remove a personal bank account (and its transactions) in stub

Connected the wrong account? Or maybe your personal card snuck into stub by mistake? No stress, you can remove the bank account and clear out any personal transactions in just a few clicks.

Why you should remove personal accounts

  • Keep business and personal separate: personal spend in your books makes reports messy and can skew profit.
  • Accurate tax: SARS doesn’t care about your grocery bill, and neither should your Profit & Loss.
  • Clean reporting: removing personal data keeps your Balance Sheet and P&L focused on the business only.

If personal spend is left in, your reports won’t show a true picture of business performance.

How to remove a personal bank account in stub

  1. Go to Business → Bank accounts.
  2. Click into the bank account you want to remove.
  3. Toggle it off.
  4. Delete the account if you no longer want it connected.

How to delete the related transactions

  1. Go to Income or Expenses.
  2. Use the Filter by account option to find transactions linked to the personal bank account.
  3. Select all those transactions.
  4. Click Delete.

Tips for keeping things tidy

  • Double-check before deleting: once gone, those transactions can’t be recovered.
  • Separate early: connect only your business bank accounts to avoid mixing personal and business spend.
  • Weekly review: scan your transactions so you catch accidental personal imports quickly.

Once the personal account and its transactions are removed, your books are clean again, just business, no distractions.
