Your subscription is your arrangement with stub itself: the plan this business is on, and what stub charges for it each month. Every business starts on the free plan and stays there until you upgrade — no card on file, nothing to cancel.
stub asks you to keep honest books, so it keeps its own relationship with you just as plain: one page that shows what you're on, what it costs, and where to change it. That page is Settings → Billing, under the Administration heading. Come here when a feature asks you to upgrade, when you want to know what next month's debit will be, or when you're weighing up whether the paid plan earns its keep.
Read your plan card
The card at the top shows the plan this business is on:
- Sneaky Side Hustle — free, forever.
- Growing Business — the paid plan, with its Status, monthly Price, and any discount you are on.
It also shows the card fees you pay on online payments, plan by plan, so you can see what a card payment actually costs you. If those rows read Not active, you haven't switched online payments on yet.

The plans
- Price — Sneaky Side Hustle: Free; Growing Business: R189 / month
- Card fees (South African) — Sneaky Side Hustle: 4.5% + ZAR 2; Growing Business: 3.5% + ZAR 2
- Card fees (international) — Sneaky Side Hustle: 4.7% + ZAR 2; Growing Business: 3.7% + ZAR 2
Established Entrepreneur is the tier above — everything in Growing Business plus unlimited users, payroll and expense management, priced on request. Your plan card is the source of truth for your own price, including any discount.
Most of what the guide marks as premium — bills, purchase orders, assets, the General Ledger, Files, Reports, tags, loans, Sales Tax, team members and AI tools — sits on Growing Business and above. If your business is starting to lean on those, this page is where the upgrade happens.
Upgrade
Click Upgrade on the plan card. stub sends you to its secure payment page — enter your card details there and confirm. Your features unlock as soon as the payment goes through.
Change or cancel your plan
Click Manage on the plan card. This opens stub's secure billing portal, where you can change your plan, update your card or cancel. stub never handles your card details itself — that's why there are no card fields or plan-change buttons in the app.
If you are on a trial, overdue or cancelled
The top of the page changes to match your state — Trialing, Overdue, or Cancelled — with the date it runs out and a button to sort it. A cancelled plan keeps working until the date shown, so you lose nothing by cancelling early in the month.
If a partner manages your subscription
If you came to stub through a partner, clicking Manage tells you who handles your billing. Speak to them rather than to stub.
Multiple businesses
Each business has its own subscription. Switch business first, then check Settings → Billing. See Run multiple businesses.
Note: stub does not have a pause option. If you need to stop paying for a while, cancel — your records stay intact and you can come back. See Cancel or close account.
