Work faster with the keyboard

Move through forms, pickers and lists without reaching for the mouse.

Most of stub works from the keyboard. Press ? anywhere to see every shortcut, and hold Alt (Option on a Mac) to see the keys on the page itself, next to the buttons they press. Single-key shortcuts wait while you're typing in a field, so you can't set one off by accident.

Anywhere

  • ⌘K on a Mac, Ctrl K on Windows — Go to anything. Type where you want to go or what you want to make. Pick a document, such as New invoice, and stub creates it, with a short loading message while it does, then opens it.
  • / — Search.
  • . — Open your Inbox.
  • ? — See every keyboard shortcut.

Go to a page

Press G, then a letter: S for Sales, E for Expenses, I for Insights, C for Customers and R for Reports. For Settings, press , (comma) then a letter, such as B for Business or M for Team. Once you press either key, the menu shows each page's letter.

Create

On a list page, N opens its Create menu and I imports. On Sales and Expenses, a second letter after N picks the document:

  • Sales — N then I for an invoice, Q for a quote, O for an order, C for a credit note, P for a pro forma invoice, or T for income.
  • Expenses — N then E for an expense, B for a bill, O for a purchase order, or D for a debit note. M syncs your bank feeds.
  • Files — U uploads a file and F makes a folder.

Pickers and menus

Every picker, such as customer, supplier, category or account, answers the same keys:

  • Up and Down move through the options.
  • Enter chooses the highlighted option.
  • Tab chooses it and moves you to the next field.
  • In an account picker, Right and Left open or leave a group of accounts.
  • Esc closes the picker, or goes back.

Focus stays in the form: when a picker closes, you land back on the field you opened it from. You can fill in an expense, income, journal or invoice without touching the mouse.

Type a date

In any date field you can type the date instead of choosing it from the calendar, then press Enter or Tab. stub reads it the way you'd write it:

  • 23 — that day, in the month the field is on.
  • 23/10 or 23 Oct — a day and a month. Add a year if you need one: 23/10/2026 or 23 Oct 26.
  • 2026-10-23 — year first.
  • today.
  • +7 or -1 — that many days after or before the date already in the field.

If stub can't read what you typed, it says so under the field.

Switch views

On a list page or Insights, press 1 to 9 to jump to the view in that place: 1 is All (Overview on Insights). Hold Alt to see each number. See Custom views and filters.

Months and the Inbox

  • Where there's a month selector, Left and Right step to the previous or next month, and T jumps back to this month.
  • In the Inbox, Up and Down move through notifications, E archives one and U marks it read or unread.
Tip: forgotten a key? Press ? any time to see the shortcuts for the page you're on.
